The Imbir v. Barron court decision was issued by the Alberta Court of Queen’s Bench in Calgary on June 9, 2006.
On October 31, 1998, Joanna Imbir was stopped at the intersection of Edmonton Trail and 32nd avenue when she was rear-ended by a Nissan Pickup truck operated by Augustine Barron. At the time of the accident Ms. Imbir was 35 years of age, married and the mother of an 8-year old girl. She was self-employed with her husband in a restaurant/catering business.
Ms. Imbir claimed to have suffered serious injuries in the accident. The Poirier v. Robichaud court decision was released by the New Brunswick Court of Queen’s Bench on February 8, 2007.
In the fall of 1999, 19 year-old Sonia Poirer, noticed a lump on the left side of her neck. She went to the outpatients department of the Campbellton Regional Hospital where she was diagnosed with a left-sided neck mass. At that time, it was not known whether the neck mass was malignant or benign as the medical investigation was not yet completed.
In March 2000, the neck mass seemed to be progressing rapidly and was causing pain. Ms. Poirier was referred to Dr. Ronald Robichaud, an otorhinolaryngologist. Dr. Robichaud diagnosed the neck mass as branchial cyst and recommended surgery. Read the rest of this entry »

The Flentje v. Nichols court decision was released by the Ontario Superior Court of Justice on September 21, 2006
On January 18, 2002, Sylvia Flentje was crossing the parking lot leading to the entrance of the Buckhorn Restaurant and Bar in Calabogie, Ontario when she suffered a slip & fall on the snowy asphalt.
Ms. Flentje, age 24 at the time, sustained a severe fracture to her lower right leg/ankle which required surgery to insert a metal plate and screws and resulted in a large scar. Due to her injuries, Ms. Flentje was unable to return to her job as an office clerk for three months. On August 12, 2003, she underwent further surgery to remove the plate and screws. The Carlson v. Lippa court decision was released by the Alberta Court of Queen’s Bench in Edmonton on June 19, 2007.
One June 18, 2000, Trina Carlson was riding in the rear seat of a Volkswagen Rabbit being driver by her brother. While stopped at a red light on Yellowhead trail they were suddenly rear-ended by a Ford F-150 being driven by Daniel Lippa. Ms. Carlson, who was age 20 at the time, suffered soft tissue injuries as a result of the accident. However, she alleged that as a result of having her head snapped back by the force of the collision she also suffered a dysfunction in her jaw and facial muscles that was causing her long lasting pain and suffering.
Ms. Carlson hired an Edmonton accident lawyer and sued Mr. Lippa for the injuries she sustained. Read the rest of this entry »

The Izony v. Weidlich court decision was released by the British Columbia Supreme Court in Columbia on August 28, 2006.
On April 3, 2002, Roy Izony started an 11-hour drive from Prince George to Tsay Keh Village to pick up his mother to take her shopping in Prince George. At about 3:00 a.m. on Highway 97, a 1991 Ford Crown Victoria driven southbound by Michael Weidlich crossed the centre line and collided head on with Mr. Izony’s 2000 Dodge Ram pickup. Both vehicles were travelling at approximately 100 km/h.
Mr. Weidlich was killed in the crash. Mr. Izony’s vehicle rolled down an embankment and Mr. Izony was ejected from the vehicle in the process. Passers-by found him a few minutes later with his left leg trapped under the left rear wheel of the Dodge, which had come to a stop upright. Read the rest of this entry »
