The Godden vs. Wal-Mart Canada Corp. court decision was released by the Newfoundland and Labrador Supreme Court on January 4, 2008.
On October 3, 2003, Elizabeth Godden was shopping at the Wal-Mart in Mount Pearl Newfoundland & Labrador. She was pushing a shopping cart and walking in the direction of the customer service desk when she suddenly slipped on slippery floor. An off-duty employee had spilled a coffee on the floor and the clean-up occurred only minutes before the slip.
As a result of losing her balance, Ms. Godden tightly grasped the handle of the shopping cart which avoided a fall to the floor. Read the rest of this entry »
